Tata Motors maintains its lead at Raid de Himalaya 2011

Team Tata Motors Full Throttle continued strongly at Raid de Himalaya 2011 during the 358 km. Leg 2 from Manali to Dalhousie. At the start of Leg 3, Tata Motors vehicles led the Pro Stock Expert SUV, Pro Stock Amateur SUV and Stock Amateur SUV classes of the 2011 Adventure trial. The team also locked up 3 of the top 5 positions (2nd, 3rd and 5th) in the overall Adventure trial standings.
Wednesday morning brought a sudden surge of excitement to the quiet town of Manali when over a hundred jaw-dropping rally vehicles roared out of town to start the Leg 2 of the 2011 Raid De Himalaya. Passing through the spectacular valley of Aut, team Full Throttle swiftly passed Mandi and headed towards Palampur. After that the route saw the entire rally caravan roaring off-road through the perilous ghats of Chuari, Chamba and Khajjar. By 5pm, Team Full Throttle were entering the beautiful Deodar forests of Dalhousie where they crossed the final check point and began to prepare their vehicles for Leg 3 of the rally.
At the end of Leg 2, the Tata Safari of Takale and Chandrashekharan held on to its lead in the Pro-Stock Expert SUV class, while the Tata Xenon of Pai and Kumar led the Pro Stock Amateur SUV class. The Tata Safari of husband-wife duo Satish Gopalkrishnan and Savera Dâ€â"¢Souza also maintained its lead in the Stock Amateur SUV class. Tata Motors vehicles also held on to second place in the Stock Expert SUV and Stock Amateur Car classes.
Leg 3 will see the teams cover Kheri - Pepdi - Bani - Chatergala Pass - Bhaderwah - Kishtwar - Puldoda - Mughal Maidan - Sinthan Pass - Daksum - Anantnag - Srinagar.
